Reflecting on my ILP

Looking back at where I first started with my ILP and where I am now is crazy.  When I first started this ILP I was excited yet nervous for the process and not knowing if I would have enough time for it.  It has been a journey and I have had so much fun with it and I have learned a lot.

Looking back to the first thing I made chocolate chip muffins, it was fun but stressful because I didn’t know what to expect with the final product of my first baked good.  I have become more comfortable and relaxed about my ILP.  When I first started it was more of a stressful thing and I didn’t know how to make it a fun thing that did not stress me out.  I reflected on my time baking and how I could make it less stressful for myself and I could not figure it out so I just left it at that and thought it would always be a little stressful and I would just have to get used to that.

When I got to my second baked good I told myself I wasn’t going to get stressed.  I was just going to have fun and do my thing and see what happened.  I went in excited, and it worked I just let it happen and was having fun.  I wasn’t worried about making mistakes and messing up, I was just looking at what was in front of me and doing what the directions said.  It worked it relieved my stress and I was happy with the result and I didn’t have to get stressed to like my baked good end result.  Being relaxed and excited to bake makes it go so much more smoothly and makes it more fun.

Overall my ILP has been a great experience and I have learned so much.  I now go into baking relaxed and excited to bake.  It is more of a stress reliever than a stress inducer and that is exactly what I wanted it to be and it has worked so far.  Making sure that you are having fun with everything you do not just baking is extremely important.  You will grow and do better when you are relaxed and having fun and being challenged.  The second you become stressed and worried about doing things is when you do not succeed as quickly as if you were relaxed in doing different things.  I think everyone needs to work on being more relaxed and excited to do everything they do and they will grow as a person and as a student.

  1. I think it’s great that you looked for a way to make baking a stress reliever. It’s not fun when you are stressing about it the whole time, it seems more like a chore at that point. I stress about everything that I make but that’s just because I’m a perfectionist and i like things to be just the right way and if it’s not it bothers me. I still find a way to make things fun though, even when trying to make it perfect. I think you can stress about it without getting too stressed because you know what the end result will be which makes everything easier. And with practice, things will start coming easier where you won’t even have to think about what you’re doing. I know there are some things that I can bake where I don’t even have to look at a recipe or really think about it, I just do it.

  2. I really enjoyed reading your post. I remember reading your first ILP post. I think you have done a great job on your ILP. Keep up the great work! Thank you for sharing.

  3. I think it is a success story if your independent learning project can be considered a stress reducer because we all started this process unsure of how successful we were going to be! I am really happy that you got to create things that allow you to relax! The best part is that you get something delicious out of your stress reliever, so I’d say you win! 🙂
    Great post,

  4. I absolutely love your posts! This totally reminds me of the TED talk we watched this week about enjoying the things that you do for the 30 day challenge but it applies to this too. It really is a relaxing thing to do and when there’s no pressure, it can be a really enjoyable experience!

  5. It sounds like you are making progress! I really enjoy looking at all the stuff you and the others make for your ILP. I must say that it is very inspiring. Seriously, I sometimes try the stuff you guys do.

  6. I think it is great that you are making such progress. It is awesome to be able to look back at where we used to be and now we are here. There are big differences and learning experiences to be learned. Thanks for sharing yours!
